| Randy Burton and Barbara Baldovin conducted a meeting in Austin, Texas, last November which led to a training session in February with 25 attorneys who expressed a desire for legal advocacy, pro bono. The training session took place at the law offices of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. A special thank you to Austin Tighe for once again coordinating the effort. JFC's establishment of this new presence in Austin was featured in an article in the Austin American Statesmen on January 20, 2000...JFC was selected this year as the recipient of the proceeds from the Reliant Energy/HLP and Houston Chronicle, "Unique Lives & Experiences," lecture series. This years speakers include, Sarah Weddington, Gloria Steinem, former first lady, Barbara Bush, Julie Andrews and Jane Goodall...JFC was successful in intervening on behalf of a sexually abused child in the CPS system, who was being allowed unsupervised visits with the alleged perpetrator..
