Organizational Update

1999 was an important year for Justice for Children.  Thanks largely to the efforts of superior staff member, Kimberly Stabler, the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant, was awarded insuring that irrespective of private funding trends, JFC is less likely to face an interruption of program services.  In the fall, our office moved from downtown (412 Main Street) to the Southwest Freeway and Kirby.  The move was necessary in light of the fact that we were able to add two additional caseworkers and an administrative assistant.

Sadly, JFC said good-bye to Executive Director, Kathy Glascock, who resigned and hello to Jasmine Williams, formerly Executive Director of First Presbyterian Church's most popular ministry, the Nehemiah Center.  Jasmine, a Houstonian for the past 6 years, joins Justice for Children with a wealth of experience in the non-profit arena.

On the program side, JFC continues to be a strong advocate for children with our office receiving over three thousand calls last year and our website receiving over 1,500 hits! There were 347 children who received direct services including therapeutic intervention, justice support and advocacy, emergency legal assistance, and personal advocacy.
